Apprentice Honoured at Greater Lincolnshire Apprenticeship Champion Awards
One of our apprentices achieved success at the Greater Lincolnshire Apprenticeship Champion Awards 2024 earlier this year. The awards are organised in partnership between the Lincolnshire County Council, Lincolnshire Public Service Compact and the Greater Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership (GLLEP).
Award winners were required to demonstrate commitment, excellence in skills development and a clear drive to support success and growth.
We are pleased to announce that Ann-Kathrin has been recognised as the Greater Lincolnshire Manufacturing Apprentice Champion 2024. Ann-Kathrin works for TRONOX Pigment UK Limited, having recently completed an apprenticeship facilitated by us, the Apprentice Employment Agency.
Here’s what Ann-Kathrin had to say about her apprenticeship journey:
“The apprenticeship offered an additional qualification over and above the honours degree full-time students would achieve, and the chance to gain five years of work experience in parallel to obtaining a BSc (Hons) in Chemical Sciences. I gained knowledge and experience rotating through different departments in the Research and Development building. Working in these departments, I became competent in most routine laboratory work but then went on to become more competent in specific areas, leading to my appointment in a permanent graduate position.
A detailed evidence portfolio enabled me to structure my personal development and build a well-rounded skill set, including communication, organisational and advanced statistical analysis skills, which provided evidence to successfully apply for a Science Council Registered Scientist professional qualification through the Royal Society of Chemistry.”
Dr. Christopher Drury from TRONOX Pigment UK Limited endorsed Ann-Kathrin by saying:
“Ann-Kathrin achieved First Class Honours in her degree and is keen to continue her learning and development. She recently took on the role of mentor for new apprentices at TRONOX, as well as becoming a Career Ready mentor to chemistry students at the local sixth form college she attended. She has gained the maximum from the apprenticeship programme, but what makes her stand out is that she now is giving back to the A Level and Level 6 degree apprenticeship programmes she benefitted from.”
